Will there be an actual DVD of the client in there? There isn't a scrap of evidence on SiSi that anything is even remotely ready yet, and Atari must be chomping on the bit to press the DVD.
The details are available by Atari on Game UK (click "Product Details"), Eurogamer and The Escapist.
There is an actual DVD in the box. It will "include all nine previously released EVE Online expansions" (as Game UK described it), which means that the DVD client is the EVE Online: Quantum Rise client.
The Windows DVD client is the Premium client, an intermediate version between QR 1.0.4 and QR 1.0.5. It will autopatch to EVE Online: Apocrypha in the same manner as the current QR 1.0.5 client.
The Mac DVD client is a special Classic client with Premium content to reduce the autopatching size, a special intermediate version between QR 1.0.4 and QR 1.0.5. It will autopatch to EVE Online: Apocrypha using the same method as the current QR 1.0.5 client but the autopatch will be a smaller download.
Why the Quantum Rise client you may ask? There is significant lead time for pressing DVDs and the gold master was delivered to Atari on 15 Jan. We are still working on Apocrypha but it is coming soon to SiSi. |

There will one hybrid disk.
There will four different boxes, but the difference will only be in the localisation of the printed material into English US, English UK, German and Russian. The disk is the same and the content of the boxes is the same. |

Funny, I didn't get that email, even though I use linux and you guys send me newsletters every once in a while. I had no idea you were axing linux until I stumbled upon that thread. And even then, it was just by some random guy. Nothing in a dev blog, nothing stickied, no post by anyone even remotely affiliated with CCP.
We wanted to contact the Linux users first. A dev blog will be published early this week. |
